January 6, 1985 – Queen flew to Brazil for the Rock In Rio Festival as a headline act (during ‘Works’ Tour). Freddie was held over in Munich due to bad weather.
The band will prepare to captivate an audience of 600,000 people over the course of two nights ( Some sources suggest up to 350,000 attended the first night) as they headlined Rock In Rio in January of 1985, and it’s still one of their most talked about performances! One of the last major appearances by the band, Queen’s Rock In Rio performance has been described as both mesmerizing and iconic, with Freddie Mercury described as being in especially rare form as he took the stage those nights.
This iconic music festival is just 6 months ahead of yet another legendary moment in Queen history, Live Aid!
