“Joe Fanelli, a dear friend of Freddie’s who became his personal chef. Joe was wonderful, good-natured guy, and was a dedicated vegan, but he used to cook all Freddie’s meals, which were generally steaks and wherever. And his cooking was always judged to be great. Quite amazing that he did that. He was only young when his friendship with Freddie ripped him out of his home life in the Midwest of America, but he was cultured and gentle and stayed loyal to the end. A good man was Joe Fanelli.”
