The band Queen today released a song featuring the late frontman Freddie Mercury. It is the first new song in eight years from the band with the voice of Mercury, who died in 1991 from the effects of AIDS. The track is called Face It Alone.

This ‘gem’ was left on the shelf for years, until band members Roger Taylor and Brian May came across it again. They told BBC Radio 2 about the find this summer. The track dates from the period when the album The Miracle was recorded in 1989. “We found a gem of Freddie that we had kind of forgotten about,” said Taylor. “But it was beautiful, a real find.”

Queen last included three never-before-heard songs from Mercury on their 2014 album Queen Forever.
