27 November 1980, Queen performed @ Groenoordhallen, Leiden, Netherlands
“The Game Tour”
Queen’s gigs in The Netherlands would now be played at the Groenoordhallen in Leiden. Bands often made this transition when engineers determined that their lighting rigs grew beyond what the Ahoy in Rotterdam could handle.
Brian, after ‘Now I’m Here’: “Good evening, folks of Holland. You know you sing.. so beautifully. You know, you sang on our live album. Did you know that? Good, good. We’d like you to do a special bit of singing for us. Will you do that?” The audience knows exactly what’s coming next. “This is called ‘Love Of My Life’.” The audience sing every word to perfection, to which Mercury calls “the best singing I’ve heard in ages.”
At the end of the show, Freddie says, “You’ve been a truly fabulous audience tonight!” That’s definitely not something he said every night. It must have been a fantastic atmosphere, as the audience sang along with nearly every song.
