This show was intended to be recorded for a later broadcast on Radio Luxembourg, but unfortunately the recording equipment failed and nothing was recorded.

QUEEN at the Blow Up! 14 October 1973. The most significant band and show at the Blow Up! For those of us fortunate enough to be in the crowd that night it was musical magic!
The Queen Blow Up show was an invite only show and a few of us Americans were able to obtain tickets from one of our favorite Blow Up waiters. We were fortunate to be near the front of the crowd and it was amazing to see this band up close and raw. I was completely unaware at the time the significance of the show or the fact that I was witnessing the birth of one of worlds greatest rock bands.
The Blow Up concert took place only 3 months after the bands debut album Queen was released on 13 July 1973. To be honest I had only heard the Queen song “Keep Yourself Alive” a few times.
And while their debut album had just been released, this show also included songs from the upcoming Queen II album that was released in March of 1974. What was particularly cool was the encore that was pure rock and roll and included cover songs from Elvis Presley, Connie Francis and Little Richard.
The Blow Up show was supposed to be broadcasted on a Radio Luxembourg “In Concert” special but the recording equipment failed and the show was not recorded.
The Blow Up show holds a special place in Queen’s history and the band has immortalized this famous gig with a board stop on their specialty issue Queen Monopoly board game introduced in May 2017. Brian discusses the Blow Up gig in his Youtube video where he introduced the Queen Monopoly game.
